As rehearsals start to ramp up, I’m writing to solicit the volunteer support of cast parents to get the whole of this show off the ground! We have specific crucial “holes” in our parent production team, so would GREATLY appreciate any and all help where needed.
Below is a link to the list of parent volunteers: names in blue indicate that the person has succumbed to my powers of persuasion and is willing to sign on again this year! Names in black have yet to confirm whether they’ll come back into “cosa nostra,” (so please let me know if you are willing). And roles listed in red are where we (really, really!) need volunteers.
Whom we are desperate for are an Advertising/Publicity head (articles written and sent to newspapers, soliciting program ads from local businesses, etc.) and a Lighting and Sound Designer. Of slightly lesser panic are the roles of Ticket Sales head and Hair/Make-Up “designer.” We are also always looking for set-builders, set-painters, costume crew helpers (lots of glue-gunning this year!), and backstage helpers and callers.
All these roles have differing commitment levels and many tasks involved can be delegated to the kids (e.g, soliciting from businesses), but we do need a smart brain/warm body in each spot. As someone who is keenly aware of how hard it is to carve such a job out of my limited free time, I can say it makes a huge difference to the production and therein is reward. 🙂 Plus, there are SO many great personalities among us parents, that working together is actually FUN!
Please email me directly if you are willing to take on any of the above tasks and I’ll get you in touch with the other parents involved. Thanks so much for your consideration, and let me know if you have any questions!
Lastly, Parents and students should be checking the mhstheater.org website daily for schedules and updates. Students also need to email or leave a sticky for Mrs. Blanchard if they will miss a rehearsal.
